Fuzzy Mayo grew up in Nashville, Tennessee.

He developed an interest in riding around the age of 15 and became a member of the United States Pony Club along with his sister Betty.

Fuzzy’s father was the city’s chief traffic engineer, and as the city replaced its wooden signage with metal, his father would bring home the used wood; with these materials, Fuzzy made his first horse jumps. They were for his own enjoyment.

Building jumps became a full-time job when Fuzzy was approached by a customer of his sister, Betty, and asked to build more. The business expanded quickly, with a growing roster of equestrian events around the Southeast.

Fuzzy’s business is now over 50 years old.
